I tightened mine up from the factorysettingto about .032". It worked great and gave me great efficiency (80-85%) for about three years and has been slowly wearing out over the last year or so

The Barley Crusher instructions say that the gap is pre-set at .039″, but after measuring it I found that it was actually at .035″. A smaller gap will give you a finer crush which usually boosts efficiency

Most cooler mash and batch sparge folk may need a middle ground, not all flour, but agood fine crush.Malt conditioningmay really help here – tightening up thegapwhile leaving more intact husks

I have no idea what thegapon mymillis set to, and I don't really care. Learn what agoodcrush looks like and how it acts in the mash tun, andsettingswon't matter to you. Not to mention, asettingthat works with one person's system might not work for another's. Keep in mind that you're making grist, not gaps!

I generally keep my gap at 0.032″-0.036” or (0.8636mm-0.9144mm) but depending on the type of grain I’m using, I may have to make slight adjustments real-time
